Coworking Review

Vietnam

Hub Hoi An

Hub Hoi An is the coworking that started it all for me. Rice-paddy views, phone booths, silent rooms, and the kind of community that turns a random booking into a whole new way of life.

Why Hub Hoi An?

This was the very first coworking I ever tried, and honestly, the reason I went to Vietnam in the first place. It’s where this whole new life of mine began.

Hoi An has become a real hub for digital nomads, with a genuinely strong community, plenty of nomads who return year after year, countless cafés around town to work from, and enough going on, restaurants, activities, day trips, to keep long stays interesting. Hub Hoi An itself has built a reputation as one of the best coworking spaces in the area, which is exactly why I ended up there almost by chance: I needed to leave, found an available coliving, booked it, and packed my suitcase.

Wifi & Connectivity

At Hub Hoi An, wifi could get a bit slow at times, especially when the space was busy (I’ve heard it’s improved since). During my stay, from January to March 2024, winter and late winter were quiet, so this wasn’t really an issue, but by March, with the space sometimes hosting up to 40 people, the connection noticeably slowed down during peak hours.

Workspace & Productivity

In Hub Hoi An, there’s a common area with tables and a sofa for social moments, coffee, sunset drinks, but also professional chats and workshops. Phone booths are small but well soundproofed, and there are two glass-walled rooms: one where you can work quietly without it being fully silent, and another that’s a genuine silent zone, no conversations or calls allowed. Outdoor tables and desks round things out, perfect for working, eating, or just spending time with other coworkers, all while looking out over the rice paddies. It’s a calm, pleasant place to work day to day.

The coworking is open 24/7, and every room stays available and accessible, so it always feels safe to work at your own rhythm, whatever that looks like.

Good to know: By peak season (March, in my case), the space gets noticeably busier, sometimes up to 40 people at once, and it can get harder to find a good spot if you arrive a bit later, with seating tighter and the wifi slower too.

Community & Social Life

Make friends at Hub Hoi An

There was a weekly « family meeting » every Monday to plan the week’s activities, run by the on-site community manager. Friday drinks followed by dinner at a local restaurant is organized every week, along with a usual weekly board game night. The rest depends on who’s around and what they offer, sometimes an activity sticks around for weeks or months if it’s hosted by someone staying long-term: work gatherings, workshops, yoga, day trips, restaurant outings, salsa nights, and more. There’s a shared WhatsApp group for general chat.

I made some genuinely great connections during my time in Hoi An and had some really good times here, included in the group from day one. Fair warning though: with so much on offer, it’s easy to get swept up trying to join everything on top of actually working, which can get a bit overwhelming.

A small daily highlight

stunning sunsets over the rice paddies every evening, right from the coworking space!

Comfort & Amenities

There’s a real range of seating: several types of chairs (some better than others), standing desks, regular desks, sofas, ergonomic chairs, and even a few hammocks facing the rice paddies for more relaxed moments. Both glass-walled rooms are generally ventilated or air-conditioned, and there’s a free self-serve tea and coffee corner.

The on-site café serves drinks and food from morning until mid-afternoon on weekdays, and there’s a lunch menu you can pre-order to have ready and eat alongside friends. A WhatsApp group lets you order directly. You’re also free to bring your own food or get something delivered, no restrictions there.

A note on the coliving option

Hub Hoi An is primarily known as a coworking space, but it's a coliving too, with private rooms in a converted hotel about a 10-minute walk from the coworking itself, complete with a small pool, communal kitchen, and shared lounge. I stayed there myself for a month, in a Standard Room with private ensuite bathroom, a bathtub, and a small balcony overlooking the pool, combining the room with a coworking membership.

Location & Access

The coworking is about 15 minutes by scooter from Hoi An’s Old Town, and 10 to 15 minutes from the beach. It sits right in the heart of the rice paddies, in a calm, soothing setting, genuinely pleasant for focusing on work while being a bit removed from everything. There are still a few cafés nearby, and always the option to get food delivered any time of day. Having your own scooter or bicycle is ideal for getting around easily.

Value for Money

Good value overall, especially when the space isn’t at full capacity, which makes it easier to make friends, chat, and spend time together while still working well in a pleasant setting. Being surrounded by rice paddies is a real plus too: a calming, restorative feeling, and genuinely nice to look up from your screen and rest your eyes on something green.

Prices have gone up since I stayed, so it’s worth checking current rates, but the overall experience still holds up well against the cost.

What Works / What to Know Before You Go

This is where it all started for me. What I remember most is that feeling of being included from day one, good people, good energy, and rice paddies right outside the window while I worked. I also fell completely in love with Hoi An itself, the charm of the old town, the lanterns lighting up at night, and with Vietnam as a whole. Some of the friendships I made here are still part of my life today.

Practical Logistics

What you need to know before traveling to Hu Hoi An.

Generally 3 months for most nationalities, renewable for another 3 months if you leave the country (visa runs to neighboring countries are common and easy).

Da Nang airport is the closest. Vietnam's train and bus network also makes getting around the country easy. Taxis are cheap.

IM vendors are right there as you exit the airport, with cheap plans for various durations, set up on your phone in just a few minutes, physical SIM or eSIM. Apps like Airalo or MobiMatter are also an easy option if you'd rather sort it out before you land.

Very affordable. Restaurants run under €5, food delivery is available throughout the day, and there are plenty of vegan, vegetarian, and healthy food options around town.

Who is Hub Hoi An for?

Who is the coworking Hub Hoi An for

For nomads who want work and social life, properly balanced

Hub Hoi An is built for nomads who want a real balance between work and social life, who care as much about networking and professional connections as about simply having fun together. It genuinely recreates that feeling of going into an office, catching up with colleagues over coffee, chatting between work sessions. The city itself brings everything else you'd want: countless cafés for a change of scenery, restaurants, karaoke, bars, gyms, yoga classes, surfing, and weekend day trips, with nearby Da Nang also hugely popular with digital nomads. Hoi An is touristy, but genuinely lovely to live in for the long haul.
